Ijen Crater Sharing Tour

Summary: This is an amazing experience regardless of whether you’re lucky enough to see the blue fire. Blue for visibility depends on volcanic activity and sometimes that makes it impossible to see. Either way the views from the top of Ijen crater are amazing and worth the trip even without the blue fire. Only issue is communication from tour operator was inconsistent. They did not mention until I asked that we need to provide a scan of our passport and have a medical exam that’s done by someone at the beginning of the tour. They also said meet at 12:30 at the Banyuwangi train station. I stayed right across the street from the station so didn’t wake up until 12:10-12:15 and when I did my phone was full of messages asking where I was. I did eventually get picked up but it was on a scooter without a helmet which is obviously very dangerous. After that though all went smoothly. I’d still recommend this trip although perhaps with a different operator. The reason I booked with this is they were the only ones that allow solo bookings (everywhere else was 2 minimum).

Summary: Absolutely amazed by this tour! Smooth convenient pick up, adorable and knowledgeable guide, good hike and breathtaking views! Must do in Indonesia
