Enter King Christian IV, ruler of Denmark and Norway, rebuilder of fortresses, and founder of cities. Add a fire raging through the city and the King's decision not to rebuild but instead move it. Put it all together, and what do you have?... Oslo! Here we'll meet The National Theatre, University Square, Karl Johans gate (the main shopping street), and the Norwegian Parliament. What else comes to mind when you think of Oslo?For starters, no visit to Oslo is complete without a visit to Akershus Fortress and what?! An iceberg?! It may be cold here, but that's no iceberg; it's the Oslo Opera House. With its exciting modern architecture, the Opera House and neighbouring buildings form a new, contemporary part of town.
