Summary:
I booked this tour as something to do solo while hubby was busy with other commitments and very glad I did! It was a well paced walk throughout the city and our guide was very knowledgeable. There was a big festival going on at the time, but it didn't take away from the tour. We ended up back basically where we started too, so that was helpful to keep my bearings. Would definitely recommend

Summary:
Never having spent time in Raleigh, I thought this would be a great way to get a first hand look at this city. I learned about how and why the city became the capital of NC, where much of the architecture originated, what many of the older buildings "had been" in their heyday and the history and genesis of the Capital Building. We heard interesting stories of some of the more "colorful" politicians of yesteryear as well as about a very famous politician embezzler and the legacy and buildings his family left within the downtown area. The story of the construction of the Governors Mansion was especially interesting. Andrew, our leader, is very knowledgeable and clearly loves his city.
