Capture the Aurora: 3-Hour Photography Tour in Juva, Southern Savonia

Summary: We booked our tour last minute. Maksim, our guide was extremely meticulous. We loved our conversations with him. He was constantly coordinating with other colleagues to ensure he is the first one to know where there are aurora sightings and quickly took us to such places. He was an amazing conversationalist. Took really good pictures of us. Ensured we reach back to hotel safely.

Summary: Although our luck on the weather was not the best, we still had an amazing first aurora tour in our life, THANKS TO AMAR. We recommend the trip with this company and with Amar. He suggested multiple options for some days in advance for the best experience, and also on the date of tour, he recommended us to go earlier, and he was just right! We managed to observe many lovely aurora, and moon ring as well!! The snack and hot berry drink was so lovely too, such a warm and delicious treat with the sweet thoughtful service. Also, please note that in first hour or so, we did not see aurora, but Amar kept looking for it, driving for long stopping at multiple spots, to make the best experience for us. That already moved many of us in the van. It was on my mom’s bucket list to watch aurora and it was worth traveling to Saariselkä. I’m happy I trusted them! :))

Summary: Thanks to our guide Ivan's dedication and Timetravels team well-coordinated effort we were able to see an amazing aurora light show even when it was too cloudy in our area! Unlike some other groups which we passed by on the road, they were actively moving and changing their route according to weather conditions (very well equipped with various radar apps and constantly checking in with their contacts), so we ended up driving 1.5 hours to the south (and not north as usual) to find some really clear skies. And what an amazing sight it was! The tour went on for quite a lot longer than the planned 3 hours, and it was clear that for our guide the most important thing was to give everyone a wonderful experience. Really have only positive things to say about this experience. Looking at other reviews, they seem to hold up their level of quality for the last couple of years.

Summary: We did the aurora hunt and 10km husky safari with Arctic Timetravels and both activities were absolutely fantastic. The communication before and during our visit was clear and professional. We were in Saariselkä for a week and Arctic Timetravels kept in regular contact with us and selected the best night for our hunt. Our guide Ali was wonderful and took us to some beautiful, remote spots and we lit a campfire which was lovely to keep warm. Ali was so determined to show us the northern lights and our tour was over 4.5 hours. We were rewarded with the most incredible aurora storm which was so amazing to see. The husky safari was equally wonderful. Walter picked us up from our accommodation and we had a beautiful drive up towards lake Inari. Our husky guide was excellent - calm, professional and clear with her instructions. We drove through the most stunning scenery of snow covered trees, open lake and it was the most thrilling experience. We absolutely loved it. Afterwards we went to the Kota for juice, biscuits and a talk about the huskies. I had done a lot of research before our visit and the talk confirmed the caring and responsible nature of this farm. They care for the retired dogs and only have puppies when there is a need for them in the upcoming years. I highly recommend Arctic Timetravels for their activities. We felt they went over and above our expectations and really cared about giving us the best experience ever. Thank you!

Summary: It was my first Aurora tour and we saw the fantastic Aurora and shooting stars thanks to the very professional guide. Before we started, the guide honestly informed us that we might not be able to see it due to the weather and assured us that he would do his best instead. He drove us to the Aurora viewing spot safely but quickly and provided us with explanations about the Aurora, how to take pictures, and warm snacks. He also took our pictures himself and provided us with various astronomy knowledge. Of course, Aurora is greatly affected by the weather, but we were impressed by his dedication and I highly recommend this tour.

Summary: After reading all the positive reviews, I took a chance and made all of my Saariselkä bookings with Arctic Timetravels - snowsuit and boot hire, 3 hour aurora hunt and husky sledding - for our family of two adults and two children aged 11 and 8. We were due to be collected from our hotel and taken to the storage unit to collect our warm clothing but on arrival at Ivalo, there was no bus for several hours and not enough taxis available so I contacted Victor and he was able to arrange for Zen to collect us from the airport. We had to pay a premium for this of course but it was very efficient and at least we weren’t stranded with no idea when we’d manage to leave the airport! We had booked a 3 hour aurora hunt for the same evening but there was a lot of cloud cover so we were given the option of a full refund, upgrading to the 6 hour aurora hunt or postponing until the third and final night of our trip. We chose the latter option and fortunately it paid off! The flexibility offered is great as you feel the company genuinely wants you to see the lights rather than just taking you out when there’s no chance and pocketing your money. I also loved the fact that they change their destination each night according to aurora activity and visibility rather than having a set destination. Centti was a great guide and full of fascinating information. We were in a small heated van with four others and saw a faint aurora whilst standing on a frozen lake. We were there for the aurora but the stars stole the show - they were by far the most incredible we’d ever seen! We were very lucky that later on that night, we pulled over by the side of a road and saw a more intense dancing aurora which was amazing. This is an ideal aurora trip for children as they can spend as much time in or out of the warm van as they want to. Our children got cold quickly but Centti happily sat with them in the van and gave them hot berry drinks and gingerbread biscuits while the adults enjoyed the experience. Centti also got out of the van at one of the stops to check the aurora situation so that we didn’t have to unless there was something worth seeing. Despite warm clothing and snowsuits, I can’t imagine being on an aurora hunt that involves spending hours waiting outside in -25 degree temperatures! There was also no rush whatsoever. Centti went beyond the 3 hour trip that we booked which was very much appreciated. Our husky sledding experience with Angela was excellent too. We had done one a year earlier at Bearhill in Rovaniemi and this one was just as good. Another husky company that really cares about its dogs. Angela was another great guide and went above and beyond even lending her gloves to another guest! My children and I chose to borrow a second snowsuit each for the husky sledding at -25 degrees which was necessary for us! After the fun ride, it was great to warm up in a tent with hot drinks and hear more about the huskies before going back out to stroke them and take photos. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Arctic Timetravels. The guides were really friendly and knowledgeable and were always punctual and made everything we did totally stress-free. Being able to communicate by What’s App when in country was very convenient. Thank you!
