Summary: We purchased our 2pm tour with the expectation that the tour would be guided by a docent. We arrived early and the reception/cashier desk was extremely busy. It was not made clear to us that we were on our own to explore so we waited awhile for our tour to begin. While the woman behind the counter was welcoming and informative, she should have explained to us upon arrival that the tour was unguided. We did enjoy exploring the museum and learning more about Edward Hopper and his artistic gift.

Summary: This is an absolutely wonderful window into a very important American painter. Yes, it's small....but the videos, history, exhibits, and art are spectacular. To see Hopper's letters, paintings, sketches, bikes, working materials, bedroom and all...and look out on the Hudson River he loved and see the very places he sketched is a rare opportunity. The story told here is compelling - funny sketches to his wife, letters to friends, his childhood bedroom. Also, wonderful exhibits from other painters. All in a charming neighborhood only too blocks from great bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, thrift stores and more....not to be missed.
