Summary: We are an Italian-Danish family of four who went sailing a one day trip with Giovanni! We have never tried such a boat trip before. Spending a day with Giovanni around the beautiful Aeolian Islands, Lipari and Vulcano, gave us the chance to experience places that only locals really know—hidden caves, quiet coves, the bluest water, colourful fish, and the incredible rock formations that gave rise to ancient myths and stories like The Odyssey. And Giovanni reminded us of Ulisses himself: an experienced sailor, completely at home on the water. At one point, he dived into the sea and came back with fresh limpets, which we enjoyed with a glass of wine and pieces of the sweetest peaches. For lunch, he took us to a small local restaurant, where we were picked up from the shore by boat. Afterwards, we swam in Vulcano’s clear water with the beautiful black volcanic seabed, and simply enjoyed the afternoon. Then there’s Lucy—Giovanni’s wonderful wooden boat. We loved her! Do you know those moments when you wish time would stop, and those moments would last forever? That’s how this day felt. Thank you, Giovanni—and thank you, Lucy. ❤️🌋
